Every spring we brew a special beer called Smok'n Jo, and release it the Saturday before Easter. In the past, we have donated a portion of the proceeds to the Westminster Burn Fund, which helps provide immediate financial relief to Westminster citizens who are displaced from their home due to a fire. We were planning on doing so again this year when we were asked by members of the Westminster Fire Department if we could instead help support one of their own (see note below). We were honored to help, and were able to enjoy the company of some of our fire fighting friends and neighbors on brew day. Thank you to Quint Friesell, Mike Gifford, Mike Rosado, and Mike Eason for giving Eric a hand!
From Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk: "This Saturday the 26th, the Kokopelli Beer company will be tapping their “Smok'n Jo Porter.” Kokopelli Beer Company, in conjunction with the Westminster Professional Firefighters Local 2889 and the Westminster Fire Victims Burn Fund, are donating proceeds from the tapping to a Westminster Police Officer who is currently battling a terminal and rare form of cancer. The officer is a US Marine Veteran, a five year veteran of WPD, and has a wife and young son. They are facing some serious health, emotional, and financial challenges in dealing with this terminal disease. There will be 200 gallons of Smoking’ Joe Porter brewed and a portion of every pint sold will go to helping out the Officer and his family." We look forward to seeing you all soon!
